The Montclair Public Library is proud to present “Democracy” sponsored by the Montclair Photo Festival. This photo exhibit will be on view in the library gallery at 50 South Fullerton Avenue, Montclair, NJ 07042 from November 2 - 27, 2024 during Library hours.

Coretta Scott King once said, “Freedom and justice cannot be parceled out in pieces to suit political convenience. I don’t believe you can stand for freedom for one group of people and deny it to others.” November is a time when everyone thinks about elections and political change across America. This is also a time where we celebrate freedom of expression and the democratization of photography.

Photographers like Armando “OutThere” Diaz are photographing everyday moments as a street photographer, putting his subjects’ dignity on full display. When Ira Wagner isn’t working as Executive Director of the Montclair Art Museum, he’s taking captivating photos of landscapes, cityscapes, architecture, and nature. Emerging creatives such as Lev Rudoren are using their photographic talents to ignite the consciousness of those who view their work, reminding us that photography and artistic expression are our democracy.
